BE SUN SMART

It is now well known that continual exposure to the sun's rays can irreparably damage the skin causing early ageing and wrinkles. Skin cancer is a condition affecting more Australians each year, so it is important to live a skin smart lifestyle and remember to:

  • Cover up with a hat and clothing
  • Stay in the shade
  • Apply a good sunscreen
  • Get regular skin check-ups and screenings

Try to make sun protection part of your family's routine. For more tips and information visit www.cancercouncil.com.au

Sunscreens
What does SPF mean?
SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. It is a measurement based on the number of minutes it takes unprotected skin to receive a sun dose that can cause slight burning of the skin. An SPF 15 means after the same skin has been properly applied with the sunscreen it will take 15 times as long or 150 minutes to receive the same level of reddening.

What does 'broad spectrum' sunscreen mean?
Ultraviolet (UV) rays cause the most damage. A sunscreen labelled 'broad spectrum' offers protection from UV-A rays and UV-B light.

Hunter Connect Pharmacy carries both the Hamilton Range of Sunscreen (only available at Pharmacies) and Ego Sunsense Sunscreens.
